This Privacy Policy describes how Malabar Matrix (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit https://malabarmatrix.site (the “Site”) or any subdomain or product we operate, including bitsat.malabarmatrix.site.

By accessing the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Who runs this site

Malabar Matrix is a small student-led collective based in Kerala, India. We build free software tools and content. For privacy questions, data-rights requests, takedowns, or anything else covered by this Policy, write to us at contact@malabarmatrix.site. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

2. What information we collect

Information you provide. If you contact us, sign up for updates, or submit feedback, we collect the email address and any details you choose to share in the message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting and analytics providers may receive standard request metadata: IP address, browser user-agent, referrer, pages viewed, and approximate location at the country level.

We do not ask for, store, or sell phone numbers, postal addresses, government IDs, payment-card numbers, or social-media account credentials.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, browser local storage, and similar identifiers for the following purposes:

• Strictly necessary — keeping the Site secure and operational, including the bot-protection check used on some of our products.
• Analytics — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, to understand traffic, performance, and feature use in aggregate (see §5).
• Advertising — only on subdomains where ads are served (see §4). The parent site malabarmatrix.site itself does not display advertisements.

You can clear or block cookies via your browser settings. Doing so may break parts of the Site that rely on local storage.

4. Advertising — Google AdSense and third-party vendors

The parent site malabarmatrix.site does not display advertisements.

Some subdomains and products operated by Malabar Matrix — currently bitsat.malabarmatrix.site — display advertisements served by Google AdSense and its certified partners. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads to users based on their visit to those subdomains and to other sites on the Internet.

Your choices:

• Opt out of personalised advertising by Google at google.com/settings/ads.
• Opt out of certain third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices or, in the EEA / UK, youronlinechoices.eu.
• Read Google’s privacy and advertising policies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

If you visit any Malabar Matrix subdomain from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent banner will ask you to accept, customise, or reject personalised advertising before any non-essential cookies are set, in accordance with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) and Google’s EU User Consent Policy.

5. Analytics providers

The parent site uses the following analytics services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, linked below:

• Google Analytics — traffic and feature-use measurement.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymised session-replay and heatmaps. Clarity does not record keystrokes inside form fields.
• Google AdSense — covered under §4; relevant only on subdomains.

These services may set their own cookies and process your data subject to their own privacy policies.

6. Email and contact submissions

If you email us or use a contact form, we use your email address solely to reply to you and, if you opt in, to send occasional updates about new releases. We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any update or writing to contact@malabarmatrix.site.

7. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please email us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing — for example under the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), or California’s CCPA / CPRA.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@malabarmatrix.site. We will verify your identity and respond within 30 days.

We do not “sell” personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising on this parent site. The advertising on subdomains is handled by Google AdSense as described in §4.

9. Data retention and security

Server-side data we store is limited to optional email subscriptions, contact-form messages, and the standard logs kept by our hosting providers. We retain these records until you ask us to delete them (or until our hosts’ retention windows expire, whichever comes first).

All communications between your browser and the Site are encrypted using HTTPS. We use scoped credentials and reputable infrastructure providers (Cloudflare, GitHub) but no system is 100% secure.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted via a banner on the homepage for at least 14 days, and the effective date at the top of this page will reflect the last revision. Your continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
